The Design Cycle

DC

So, What Is It For?

All of the unit work completed in task is rooted in the Design Cycle (DC) above. The DC is an important tool that can help you organize your thoughts when designing something. It will help guide you when developing your design ideas, creating products and evaluating them.

Below is a brief explanation of the Design Cycle parts. Click on the individual Objectives for more information

Inquiring and Analysing

– do you look for many ideas-resources on the Internet, talking to friends-family-teachers, etc?

what are your resources?

describe what your teacher wants you to do

how will you make it the very best you can?

Developing Ideas

Create a Design Specification which outlines what your product must have to be successful

what 2 or 3 ideas do you have of how your final product will look like?

– which one will you choose?

– why is it the best choice?

Creating the Solution

what steps do you have to plan to get this project done?

– what will you do today? tonight? tomorrow?, etc.

– what problems might you encounter? what should you keep in mind …?

Evaluating

what do others think of your product?

– is it what you planned from the start?

– does it serve its purpose or function?

– what could you have done better?

– what are the best parts about this product?
