Creating\u00a0The Bridge<\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n

Now that your group has decided on a plan for the bridge, you need to work together in order to build the bridge. Your design idea and plan should have enough detail so that everyone in the group knows exactly what needs to be done and what the bridge will look like when completed.<\/p>\n

Begin with bottom Chords<\/h2><\/div>
\n

1. Begin by taping your 1:500 scale drawing to a building board.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Next, arrange your bottom chord sticks on the drawing and align them so they are straight.<\/p>\n

3. Apply a thin layer of glue to each surface that will bond. Clamp the chord to the building board.<\/p>\n

4. Continue with the end chords and top chords to build a basic frame for your truss. Clamp and allow to dry for at least 30 minutes.<\/p>\n

5. Using a pencil, mark where the diagonal and vertical chords attach.<\/p>\n

6. Remove from the building board.<\/p>\n

Repeat steps 2-6 to complete the other truss.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Use your markings from step 5 above to attach your diagonal and vertical chords. *Be sure to clamp all sticks.<\/p>\n
