Identify and Prioritise the ResearchAnalyse Existing ProductsDevelop A Design Brief

For this task, we will:

  • Explain and Justify the Need
    • Complete Research
      • Analyse Design Portfolios on the Web
        • Develop a Design Brief

Your grade will be based on the Assessment criteria posted on Managebac.
        Identify and Prioritise the Research

In this strand, we are going to make a list of  research questions. Where might you find the answer to this question (source)? Take notes in a google doc as you do your research. This will be used in strand  below.

Save the links to the websites you visit. This will make it easier when completing your bibliography later on.

        Analyse Existing Products

We will analyse at least two design portfolios. The purpose is to see how other designers present their work.

“product design portfolio” and “graphic design portfolio”

Find portfolios that you think are interesting. Look at them and think about the four areas below:

        Content, Engagement, Navigation and Aesthetics

Write about each of these areas on your worksheet.

        Develop a Design Brief

Read through the notes that you made during strand. Write the information in your own words.

You may have also learned about design portfolios when analysing other designers’ work. Write about what you learned.

        Bibliography

Include your bibliography in MLA format on your worksheet. This will help the reader understand where you found the information. We will always use the MLA format when writing a bibliography.

If you don’t already have it, install the EasyBib Google Doc Add-on or the Cite This For Me extension.  They will help you create a bibliography.
